What has changed
Everything that reached ScreenFlowr, newest first. Fixes included, because a changelog with only the good news is an advertisement.
Phones can send recordings now, and you always know who from
- Someone who opens your link on a phone is no longer told to come back on a computer. The page shows them how to use the screen recorder their phone already has, then takes the file.
- Every link now asks the person recording who they are, before they start. You choose the question, and up to two of them.
- The answers show on the recording, so a library of ten is ten names rather than ten identical rows.
- New accounts get a short welcome and a start-here card, both of which go away for good once dismissed.
Recordings preview when you point at them
- Hover a recording and it plays the first few seconds, silently, so you can tell what it is without opening it.
- The still is taken from the tenth frame, which is past whatever was on screen while the recording was starting.
- Older recordings have been given both, so your whole library looks the same rather than only the new arrivals.
- If you have asked your system for reduced motion, the preview stays a still picture.
You can see what a recording is at a glance
- Every recording now shows a still from the video itself, on the dashboard and in your recordings list, instead of an identical black rectangle.
- Older recordings get one the next time they are processed. Anything already finished keeps its plain plate, which is not worth re-processing an archive for.
Housekeeping you should not have to think about
- Uploads that were started and abandoned, by closing the tab or changing your mind at the screen picker, are now cleaned up automatically instead of sitting in storage.
- Closing your account is tucked away behind a small link at the bottom of Settings, rather than a red panel you could hit by accident. It still asks you to type the word first.
- The subscription line in Settings no longer says contradictory things like "canceled, renews" on a plan you have already cancelled.
A dashboard, and recording your own screen
- Signing in now lands on a dashboard that shows what is left of your plan, what you can start, and what has arrived.
- You can record your own screen straight into your library, on either plan, from the dashboard or the sidebar.
- Every signed-in screen shares one sidebar, so the same things are in the same place wherever you are.
- The header knows when you are signed in and offers your dashboard instead of a sign-up button.
- Pricing, changelog, terms and privacy are real pages now. They were linked everywhere and rendered blank.
Long recordings, and sharing a whole screen
- Recordings longer than about ninety seconds were failing at the very end, after everything had uploaded. Fixed, and proven with a 36 MB recording.
- Sharing an entire screen on a high-resolution Mac recorded nothing at all. It now records, and if macOS has not granted your browser screen recording, the page says so instead of failing silently.
- The bot check on public intake pages is working against real traffic.

- Logos are uploaded to us rather than linked from elsewhere, so a recording page cannot break when someone else deletes an image.
Branding, and signing in with Google
- Paid accounts can put their logo, colour and a welcome message on the page recipients land on, and the ScreenFlowr mark comes off it.
- Google sign-in was reporting a failure on sign-ins that had actually worked. Fixed.
- You get an email when a recording lands, rather than having to check.
- Closing your account really does delete the recordings, and the links you sent stop working.
Intake pages and share links
- A permanent intake page on the paid plan: one address that always accepts a recording, instead of a fresh link each time.
- Share any recording with a link that needs no account, and revoke it when you are done.
- Recordings can be renamed, downloaded and deleted.
