The short version: we hold your email address, your recordings and what we need to bill you. We do not sell anything to anyone, there are no advertising or analytics trackers on this site, and you can delete the lot from your settings.

What we hold

  • Your email address, and a display name if you set one.
  • Your recordings, their titles, and how long and how large each one is.
  • The links you create, and whether each has been used.
  • For a recording that arrives from someone else: the IP address and browser it came from, kept so an abused link can be investigated.
  • Billing state from Stripe: whether you are subscribed and when the period ends. We never see your card.

Where the recordings live

A new recording is stored on Cloudflare R2. About a day later it is moved to cheaper long-term storage, and playing it back still goes through us either way: we never hand your browser a permanent public address for a video.

One caveat worth stating plainly, because it is a property of that storage rather than a choice we made. Once a video file has been served from the long-term host's content network, a copy can remain in that network's cache for as long as a year after deletion. That is why we never publish those addresses, and why a link we give you is short-lived and points at us instead.

Deleting things

Deleting a recording removes it from your library straight away and frees the slot. The file itself is removed by a background job shortly afterwards, and any share link you had sent for it stops working immediately.

Closing your account does the same to everything at once: your recordings, your request links, your intake page and your branding. It cannot be undone. Cancel your subscription first, or Stripe will keep charging a plan with no account behind it.

One thing to know about backups. Recordings are copied to an offline backup on hardware we own, so that a failure at one of our storage providers cannot lose your work. That backup is write once by design: we can add to it, and nothing we run can erase from it. A copy made before you asked us to delete something can therefore survive the deletion, for up to ten years, and we cannot promise otherwise without promising something we could not keep.

In practice that copy is offline, is never served to anyone, is not used for anything, and is not searchable. If you need a recording removed from the backup as well, write to us and we will do it by hand.

Cookies

We set cookies to keep you signed in and to protect the sign-in form. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics on this site, so there is no consent banner to click through, because there is nothing to consent to.

Who else is involved

  • Cloudflare, which serves the site and stores recordings.
  • Stripe, for payment. Card details go to them and never touch us.
  • Our email provider, which delivers verification, password reset and the note that says a recording arrived.
  • Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google, and only to confirm who you are.

Each of them handles only what their job requires. None of them is given your recordings to do anything else with.

Your rights

You can see everything we hold about you from inside the product, correct it in your settings, and delete it by closing your account. If you want a copy in a file, or you want to ask about any of this, use the help page and a person will answer.

Children

ScreenFlowr is not for under-16s and we do not knowingly hold their data. If you believe we have, tell us and we will remove it.

Something here unclear? Ask us and a person will answer.
